Recital Number One

Here are some pictures from PJ's other recital number. The song went something like this, "I'm going to sit right down and write myself a letter..." They pretended to give mail in the practices, while in the recital, the boys handed the girls real valentines. So Parker Jane stopped dancing and read her mail.

While this was going on, I was hanging out in Hollywood with my friend MaryBeth, who actually lives in Beverly Hills with the real stars. There is some kind of irony. I realized 3 things: 1. I am totally geeky now. I felt like some kind of soccer mom. 2. You shouldn't dress like an Oregonian in Hollywood clubs on Saturday night if number 1 applies. The whole rest of my conference I kept thinking 'why didn't I wear this out on Saturday?' 3. I can still stay out until after 2:30am. I had a great time and felt fine in the morning. Although there were no kids jumping on my head at 7am either. It was awesome to hang out with MaryBeth and see live music and eat delicious Argentinian food and relax and have drinks far, far away. But it was awesome to see the girls run at me in the airport, too. Her boyfriend Chris, who does sound, actually worked with American Idol. I swear. But he didn't watch the show. I held his Grammy (not for his work with AI) and it was quite heavy. So there you go, a brush with Hollywood. Come for the day, hold my Grammy.

The reason this is titled Recital Number One is because we just found out today that there is going to be a Recital Number 2!! I signed Paigey up for this dance class for two year olds, which she loves, but she rarely does any of the dances until we get home. I thought she might have been going along with it because she just LOVES herself in a tutu. Then some of the siblings were staying for a 4 year old class after the 2 year old class. Well, we skipped the class for 6 weeks because we had other things going on and went back on Saturday, just to get our money's worth since I prepaid. Paigey did all the dance moves and Parker Jane and Paige BOTH decided they want to be in the recital this coming Sunday. Costumes Fed-Ex'd, no problem! Here we go again...

Hurray! Grandma Mar Mar's here!

After I found out that I would be missing PJ's recital to go to California (next post...) combined with little Miss Paige being on antibiotics 30/40 days in March/April, my mom agreed, not reluctantly but joyfully, to come to Oregon and help bail me out. I wanted to pull Paige out of her little germ-pool daycare for a bit and I needed a back stage hand for the dancing queen. I mean princess.
Hopefully she will return one day. She didn't have time to eat once while I was at work until I got home, then she would stuff junk food and sliced turkey in her mouth mumbling , "what's for dinner" while the girls, not ready to lose the attention, would eat turkey for her. Even ultra-vegetarian Parker would EAT MEAT to keep Grandma going. Paige had her wrapped around her little finger like only a 2 year old can pull off. She had Mom potty training and devising these elaborate nap routines. Mom kept saying, "I'm glad I had my kids young." Advice to other Moms - get all your babysitting for the year from Grandma in one week!

Here's a picture of Mom and the girls at the Zoo, and a picture of them crying when she was leaving. Is it my imagination, or does she look pretty happy to be going home??

It's a small world after all...

Here are more pictures from Disneyland. Parker Jane's favorite ride was "Soaring over California" and Paige loved "It's a Small World" and "Monsters, Inc". They both loved the Teacups. I took a picture of Paige's only nap of the week. The little boy is PJ's friend Alex, his Dad was at the Kaiser conference, too.

Disney Princesses

Here are a couple of shots from our Princess lunch. PJ was absolutely in her element. When Ariel told us she "loves swimming up the Oregon Coast", I thought Parker Jane was going to burst with glee. If you're thinking, "hmmm, Minnie's not a princess", well, she is to Paige. The girls were terrified of "The Queen".
